Collective (un)Conscious:

Nothing says “all the feels” or emotional rollercoaster quite like a Cancer full moon. This peak/pique of the lunar cycle may bring up a bit more lunacy and continues the Capricorn new moon themes of honoring your own rhythms and cycles of going inward and cultivating an inner sense of security.

Moon-ruled Cancer offers the gifts of intuition and nurturing while the shadow side may bring up insecurity or moodiness. Other major themes of Cancer include emotional connections to others and us as well as relationship to our caretaker, or attachment and emotional attunement. Many of us didn't grow up with caretakers who were responsive and attuned to our needs or emotions. These differing responses culminate in various attachment styles that become the building blocks of how we build relationships and cultivate intimacy with ourselves and others. In psychology, the term "emotional attunement" refers to our ability to be present with someone else's experience and our own.

The full moon is often a time when these unconscious patterns of attachments wounds may come up, while the square to Chiron indicates a healing in the pain. Key things to notice the days leading up to and after this full moon would be the healthy and unhealthy ways we self-soothe. Chiron often has a sense of being abandoned or feeling left out and Moon in Cancer nurtures, the two of them together provide comfort to our achy parts.

Cancer’s desire for stability may get disheveled by Uranus in sextile. Though this supportive sextile indicates changes or awakenings that are digestible. When the moon meets Uranus, we can also usually notice a new insight or way of viewing things in relation to our emotions or needs. Pay attention to flashes of inspiration and intuition as a beautiful expression of how Uranus and the Moon can work together.

This full moon emotions and attachment needs may be running high, though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Honoring the inner child by taking time to cry and validating your own feelings may lessen this sensitivity. Share emotions and hurt feelings more openly and be gentle with any neediness that arises, as a new way of awakening your ability to care give and heal yourself.

Individual Integration:

Our lunar self is most active during the full moon, attune to your moon with these suggestions:

Fire Sign Moon (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) :: The touchy, feely Cancer energy may feel foreign to you, as these signs have a tendency to avoid the emotions. Do your best to slow down. Perhaps even do a ritual by candlelight honoring your inner child or children.

Earth Sign Moon (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) :: Watery vibes call for cozy and comfort foods, or a walk near water. Use your Earthly sensibilities and sensuality to support the emotional body during this time, something that keeps you steady if the waves feel ungrounding.

Air Sign Moon (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) :: Harness some of your mental superpowers through reading books focused on parenting or attachment theory. My favs are Attached by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller or Fourth Trimester by Kimberly Johnson

Water Sign Moon (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisce) :: Soak up the energies of this FM with a bath or being near a body of water. Witness the emotional field while going with the flow and giving yourself extra time to feel.
